With the Blackstar Polar 4, the renowned manufacturer is launching a unique four-channel audio interface designed specifically for guitarists and musicians. It is the only interface of its kind to combine an FET input stage with an “Enhance” function that replicates the playing feel and tonal characteristics of a real tube amplifier —perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to sacrifice the dynamic response of analog amps, even when recording.
The Polar 4 was designed not only for uncompromising sound quality but also with the goal of bringing a fully analog-inspired playing experience into the digital age. With extremely low noise floor, professional converters, high-quality preamps, and convenient connections, this interface is the top choice for guitarists who expect more than just the standard.
Blackstar is best known as a manufacturer of high-quality guitar amplifiers—and with the Polar 4, it brings this expertise to the world of audio interfaces. The company’s expertise in analog tube technology is reflected in the FET input stage and the specially developed Enhance circuit, which realistically simulates the feel of real amps. The result: more expression, more dynamics, and an unparalleled playing experience—right in the recording session.
The high-quality preamps in the Polar 4 were designed to rival classics like the legendary Neve 1081 in performance. Blackstar thus offers a solution that meets the highest standards not only for guitarists, but also for producers, singer-songwriters, and engineers.
The Polar 4 is a four-channel USB-C audio interface that is fully USB bus-powered —meaning it requires no additional power supply. It supports 24-bit/192 kHz for high-resolution recording and is therefore suitable for both studio and home recording environments.
Each of the four channels features a high-quality mic/line/instrument input in an XLR/6.3 mm jack combo format. The inputs are balanced and offer maximum flexibility for guitars, microphones, synthesizers, or line signals.
The FET input stage allows for controlled signal overdrive, similar to a tube amplifier—without digital clipping. This preserves the instrument’s natural tonal character, and the “Enhance” button further refines the signal’s harmonic response.
+48V phantom power is available for all four channels and can be activated as needed—ideal for powering condenser microphones. Four balanced 6.3 mm line outputs allow connection to studio monitors, outboard gear, or a mixing console.
Two headphone outputs are provided for monitoring and mixing. These can reliably drive both high-impedance and low-impedance headphones with excellent sound quality—ideal for musicians, producers, or engineers who refuse to compromise on monitoring quality.
For control, the Polar 4 offers dedicated controls for gain, monitoring, and headphone volume. In addition, Line/Instrument mode, phantom power, and the Enhance function can be conveniently activated via hardware switches —no menu navigation, no software dependency, just plug & play.
The Blackstar Polar 4 is more than just a classic audio interface—it’s a musical tool specifically designed to meet the needs of guitarists and discerning music creators. The combination of an analog feel, high-quality preamps, absolute flexibility, and exceptionally low self-noise (-115 dB) makes it a powerful centerpiece for any recording setup.
With its unique FET input stage, the Polar 4 is the first interface to give guitarists true amp interaction in a digital environment. No more sterile DI sound—instead, dynamic, lively response just like you’d get from a good tube amp.
At the same time, the Polar 4 is a fully featured studio interface that, thanks to its compact design, bus-powered operation, and professional inputs and outputs, is suitable for any application—from home recording to mobile setups.
If you’re a guitarist looking for an audio interface that delivers maximum expressiveness and studio-quality sound—without sacrificing ease of use and modern features—the Blackstar Polar 4 is the perfect device for you.
