The worldwide icon among high-gain distortion pedals!
Since 1991, the legendary MT-2 Metal Zone has been the king of high-gain distortion pedals. To date, the MT-2 has sold more than a million units and continues to delight guitarists around the world. With its dense, saturated sound, the MT-2 is perfect for metal styles as well as heavy rhythms and singing solos in other genres. Thanks to its exceptionally wide sound-shaping options and extremely smooth sustain, the MT-2 enriches any style of music with a variety of powerful distortion sounds.
Right after the DS-1 Distortion, the MT-2 is BOSS' most popular drive pedal. The MT-2's continued success is due in large part to its ability to produce dense heavy-crunch tones and singing sustain at any volume level, delighting guitarists at a variety of playing levels. In addition, the MT-2's smooth character and active EQ with semi-parametric mids make it a perfect match for any type of guitar amp - including clean "pedal platform" amps.
Innovative two-stage gain circuitry
Under the hood of the MT-2 is an innovative analog circuit for powerful heavy sounds. Two gain stages are connected in series: the first provides the necessary clarity in the mids and leads directly into the second, more aggressive stage. The carefully tuned pre- and post-distortion filters (seven stages in total) ensure that the sound remains tight and well-defined at every setting, without becoming muffled and spongy.
Shape Shifter
The sound-shaping capabilities far exceed those of most analog drive pedals, ranging from driving mid scoop rhythms to fat, cutting sounds that effortlessly cut through even extremely packed mixes. Post-distortion controls for Low, Middle and High offer up to 15 dB of cut or boost. This allows you to precisely tailor the MT-2 to your guitar and amp type, or create completely new sounds. The midrange is the heart of any guitar sound. For this reason, the MT-2 offers a particularly flexible frequency band, allowing you to adjust the frequency of use between 200 Hz and 5 kHz.
