The BOSS PX-1 Plugout FX is an innovative hardware platform that brings together the legendary soundscapes of classic BOSS compact pedals in a single, versatile device. BOSS, a brand of the Roland Corporation, has been synonymous with groundbreaking effects technology in compact pedal format since 1977. With over 140 pedals developed and more than 19 million units sold worldwide, BOSS is an undisputed market leader in this field. Many of the early models such as the OD-1, DS-1 or CE-2 have made music history and are still in production today. The PX-1 is an expression of this long development tradition and combines the best of several decades with contemporary technology - "designed in Japan" with the demand for the highest audio quality, reliability and durability.
At the heart of the PX-1 is a newly developed PSD (Pedal Sound Drive) technology, which enables exceptionally precise modeling of individual effect pedals. Each effect is not only reproduced in terms of sound, but also completely emulated in terms of response and dynamics - including all the analog characteristics of the original.
The pedal offers space for up to 16 effects, eight of which are already pre-installed. Eight more can be added via the BOSS Effect Loader app. Future models can be purchased via so-called Model Passes and integrated into the device. The control concept combines classic BOSS knobs with a modern display on which additional parameters can be adjusted.
On the connection side, the PX-1 offers stereo inputs and outputs, a MIDI input (TRS), Bluetooth and USB-C - the latter for both power supply and data transfer. In addition, two external footswitches or an expression pedal can be connected. This allows the user to control parameters or change effects in real time. A tap tempo function and the option of MIDI clock synchronization round off the setup.
The integration into the Roland Cloud ecosystem is also particularly noteworthy: the PX-1 effects can be used as plug-ins in DAWs. The included Roland Cloud Ultimate subscription provides access to additional BOSS plug-ins, including classics such as the JC-120 Jazz Chorus or the Space Echo RE-201.
