Technical Details of the Cherub ECH WST-680 "Moai Tune"

The Cherub ECH WST-680 "Moai Tune" Auto-On Tuner with Rechargeable Battery impresses with its sophisticated technical features. Particularly noteworthy is the automatic activation: When you flip the tuner forward, it turns on immediately and is ready for use. This eliminates the hassle of searching for switches or buttons—ideal for quick use on stage or during rehearsals.

To prevent accidental mode changes, Cherub has designed the process of switching between presets to be particularly secure. A hidden button on the back—which can only be operated using the included clip—allows you to switch modes reliably. This ensures that the selected setting is not changed unintentionally.

Technically, the device offers a detection range from 27.5 Hz to 4,186 Hz, making it suitable for many instruments. The concert pitch is set to 440 Hz—perfectly tuned for guitars and other stringed instruments. The built-in piezo sensor ensures precise pitch detection by directly picking up the instrument’s vibrations. This allows for reliable tuning even in noisy environments.

The WST-680 offers various presets for different instruments: Chromatic, Guitar, Bass, and Ukulele. This selection makes it a versatile companion that adapts flexibly to the musician.

Another highlight is the built-in Li-Po battery, which is charged via a micro-USB port. The corresponding cable is included. This eliminates the need for constant battery changes, and the tuner is ready for use at any time. Measuring 52 x 37 x 39 mm and weighing just 33 g, the device is compact and lightweight—perfect for on-the-go use.

Especially handy: There’s an integrated pick holder on the back, complete with a pick. A small but nice detail that makes everyday life easier for guitarists.
