The solid Sitka spruce top of the OC4 has been torrefied using the aged-to-vintage process. This artificial ageing process simulates the natural maturing process of the wood and ensures an open, well-rehearsed sound with clear trebles, soft mids and fine dynamics. The top is supported by a hand-scalloped X-bracing, which ensures maximum vibrations and lively tone development - ideal for fingerstyle, strumming or targeted picking.
The back and sides are made of mahogany, a proven tonewood for acoustic guitars that produces a harmonious sound with its warm basic sound, present mids and controlled basses. In combination with the torrefied spruce top, the result is a full-bodied, resonant tone that holds its own in both solo and band contexts.
The orchestra design with cutaway offers an excellent balance between playing comfort and fullness of sound. The cutaway also makes it easy to reach high registers - ideal for solo playing and complex chord voicings. The glued mahogany neck with a scale length of 648 mm and a nut width of 43 mm ensures a pleasant feel across all 20 frets.
The fingerboard and bridge are made of high-quality rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) - a tonewood that is prized for its pleasant feel and excellent sound transmission. The nut and bridge inlay made of bone support precise intonation and direct sound development. Visually, the instrument is stylishly accentuated by the Heringbone rosette and the body binding of the same name.
For amplified use, the Cort Essence OC4 is equipped with a Fishman Presys VT preamp. This compact and easy-to-use system offers controls for volume and tone and delivers a natural, detailed sound - perfect for live performances, studio recordings or use with acoustic amplifiers.
The vintage style tuners in chrome ensure stable tuning performance and a classic, appealing look. The vibration-friendly semi-gloss finish emphasizes the natural wood grain and supports the acoustic behavior of the instrument - for an open, lively tone with a discreet appearance.
