The tonal center of the Modern Black is a solid European spruce top in Mastergrade quality. It offers a brilliant response, the finest dynamics and a particularly clear projection. The top is finished in Trans Black Gloss and gives the instrument not only tonal excellence, but also a unique visual presence. The Advanced Scalloped X-Bracing ensures optimum vibration and a finely tuned sound balance.
The back and sides are made of solid mahogany and complement the spruce top with warm, full mids and a controlled bass foundation. The natural finish of the body contrasts stylishly with the black top. The vibration-friendly UV varnish protects the wood without impairing its resonance - for a lively, open sound.
The Grand Concert cutaway shape combines compact handling with full sound projection. The bevel cutaway ensures maximum playing comfort on the body and facilitates access to the upper frets. The glued mahogany neck with double lock neck joint guarantees optimum stability and perfect vibration transmission - a decisive advantage for dynamic, expressive playing.
The asymmetrical Ergo-A neck profile offers a modern, ergonomic fit for the fretting hand. Together with the scale length of 648 mm, the nut width of 44.5 mm and the hand-rounded 20 frets, the result is a playing feel that meets the highest demands - comfortable, precise and fluid.
The fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony - a dense, hard tonewood with excellent response and durability. The custom block inlays made of wood give the fingerboard an individual, high-quality look. The Graph Tech TUSQ nut and the real bone bridge inlay ensure precise intonation and optimum sound transmission.
A special feature of the Modern Black are the Dual Monitor Soundholes, which offer a side sound window in addition to the classic sound hole.
