Module A-113 is a sound source that derives four so-called subharmonics from an incoming square wave signal.
The term subharmonic, coined by Oskar Sala, is used here as in the Mixtur trautonium, i.e. the frequency of each of the 4 subharmonics is in a fixed ratio to the input frequency (master frequency, e.g. from an A-110 or A-111) and the output waveform is sawtooth (called "tilt oscillator" in the trautonium, i.e. not sine oscillations, as in the term harmonics !). The divider ratio of each of the 4 subharmonics to the master frequency is adjustable in the range 1...24 with up/down buttons and is indicated with two-digit LED displays. The 4 subharmonics are available as single outputs and as a common mix output ("Mixtur"), where the amplitude of each subharmonic is adjustable. Via 2 gate inputs up to 4 different "mixtures" can be switched from outside. This can be done e.g. with foot switches like on the Trautonium or with other gate signals. With 2 gate inputs 4 different combinations are possible, therefore 4 mixtures (with the original trautonium only 3 different mixtures are possible). The module A-113 has additionally a mixture memory, in which 50 presets can be stored. A preset consists of a set of 4 mixtures switchable with the gate inputs, each mixture in turn consists of the 4 values for the frequency dividers.
