Doepfer A-130-8 Octal Linear VCA Vintage Edition Product Details

Description

The A-130-8 module contains eight linear voltage-controlled amplifiers (VCAs). A control voltage input (CV), a signal input (In) and a signal output (Out) are available for each VCA. There are also 3 built-in mixers. The mix signal of units 1 to 4 appears at the socket labeled "1-4". The mix signal of units 5 to 8 appears at the socket labeled "5-8". The mix signal of all eight units appears at the socket labeled "1-8".

The signal inputs can process levels of up to approx. 20Vpp without distortion (20Vpp = 20V peak-to-peak or approx. -10V...+10V). A trim potentiometer is available internally for each control input, with which the sensitivity of the input can be adjusted. The module is factory-set for control voltages in the range 0...+5V. However, it can also be set for other control voltage ranges (e.g. 0...+10V) using the trimming potentiometers.

The amplification range of each individual VCA is 0...1. The signals in the three summation outputs have a lower amplification in order to avoid distortion at the outputs.

The module is completely DC-coupled so that both audio and control signals can be processed. The control voltage and signal inputs can be normalized internally using small solder pads (e.g. 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 etc. but also 1 > 5, 2 > 6, 3 > 7, 4 > 8 for the stereo application mentioned below).
