Doepfer A-196 Phase Locked Loop (PLL) Product Details

Description

The module A-196 contains a so-called Phase Locked Loop (PLL) - in German often also called Nachlaufsynchronisation. A PLL consists of 3 parts: voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) oscillator (VCO), phase comparator (PC) and low pass filter (LPF). The 3 units are normally interconnected to form a closed-loop frequency feedback system. is created. A very important application of the PLL is frequency multiplication: For this purpose the output of the internal VCO is fed to a frequency divider (e.g. A-163, A-160, A-161, A-115) and its output is connected to the PC. and its output is connected to the PC. This causes the internal VCO to oscillate at a multiple of the frequency of the externally supplied signal. For example, if the A-163 is set is set to a divider factor of 5, the output of the internal VCO will be five times the frequency of the external signal. Thus, the voltage-controlled frequency division of the A-163 leads to a frequency multiplication and one can drive through different pseudo-harmonics with one control voltage ("pseudo" because of the square waveform).

Since the A-196 is a non-trivial module, we recommend our customers to watch the video below to get a first impression of the experimental possibilities of this module. of this module.
