Dreadbox Nyx Product Details

Description

The "Nyx" is another compact desktop analog synthesizer from Dreadbox. It is characterised by its extraordinary reverb, the sound of which can best be described as "extremely spacy". The two powerful VCOs of the Nyx can be operated with separate glide times, have hard sync and can be set over three octaves. The range of VCO2 is one octave higher and VCO1 offers square wave and modulated pulse width. A special highlight is the dual filter section, which works with 12 or 24 dB per octave, whereby both filters can be operated serially and in parallel. A total of 4 operating modes are available: Single, Dual, Split and Odd. For example, one voice can have its own filtering. Both filters can be controlled by one AD envelope each, which can also be used as an LFO in loop mode. Another LFO in the oscillator section is responsible for vibrato. Like the previous synthesizers from Dreadbox, Nyx duophon (paraphone) can be operated with one oscillator per voice. A third modulator is available for the VCA. For further semimodular control of sound parameters, there are nine CV inputs for both VCOs, filter, reverb, pulse width VCO1 and VCA as well as gate for triggering the envelopes. Six output jacks can be used to pick up CV signals from the modulators and VCO2 and send them to other modular devices.
