With the Electro Harmon ix Ocean Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory, legendary effects pedal manufacturer EHX introduces a state-of-the-art reverb pedal that sets new standards for sonic depth, flexibility and professional control. Combining two fully independent stereo reverb engines with a modular effects setup, the Ocean Abyss is much more than an ordinary reverb unit - it's a fully configurable effects laboratory for stage and studio.
This pedal is designed to provide artists, sound designers and live performers with a platform to create and store complex, multi-layered soundscapes. The combination of intuitive operation, extensive modulation, MIDI connectivity and USB integration makes the Ocean Abyss an indispensable part of any sophisticated setup.
Electro Harmonix (EHX) is a name that has been synonymous with innovative effects units for decades. From classics such as the Big Muff to modern creative solutions such as the Oceans 11, EHX remains true to its philosophy of pushing boundaries and setting new standards. With the Ocean Abyss, the company is taking reverb to a whole new level. It combines studio quality with stage suitability, modular flexibility with ease of use - all in the unmistakable EHX style.
The Ocean Abyss is the result of many years of development work and feedback from the music community. It is aimed at musicians who not only want to shape their sound, but completely redefine it.
The Electro Harmonix Ocean Abyss has two completely independent stereo reverb engines that can be configured and tuned separately. Each engine offers access to ten high-class reverb types, including
The two engines can be combined flexibly - either in a complementary way for multi-layered rooms or as contrasting textures for experimental ambient sounds. Thanks to true stereo operation, you get impressive spatial depth with clearly defined stereo width.
The highlight: up to eight effect blocks can be placed in the signal path - including delay (digital, analog or tape), chorus, tremolo, flanger, phaser, graphic EQ, saturation, volume and bit crusher. Two of these blocks are reserved for reverbs, while the remaining slots can be freely assigned.
Each routing can be saved as a preset - a total of 128 fully programmable memory slots are available so that you can call up complex setups at any time.
Despite its high functional depth, the Ocean Abyss is easy to operate. At the center is an easy-to-read OLED display that offers you various graphical views:
Use the central NavCoder knob to navigate quickly through menus, adjust parameters and create new sounds with ease. Illuminated potentiometers and tactile wings allow precise operation even on dark stages.
Each parameter can be stored in a preset, and there are both global and patch-specific configuration options. Thanks to this structure, the Ocean Abyss is just as suitable for complex studio sessions as it is for spontaneous live situations.
The Ocean Abyss offers professional-level connectivity:
With its high sampling rate of 96kHz at 24-bit, the pedal offers studio quality with maximum live suitability. The buffered bypass ensures that your signal remains clear and clean even in bypass mode.
The Electro Harmonix Ocean Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory is aimed at guitarists, synthesizer enthusiasts, sound designers and live performers who think far beyond standard reverbs. With its dual-engine architecture, modular design and extensive routing options, this pedal is a complete effects center for ambitious sound explorers.
Thanks to MIDI, CV, USB and storage options, it is suitable for both complex studio setups and stage racks. Anyone looking for a reverb that can do more than just reverb - namely create creative spaces, shape textures and support interactive performances - will find the Ocean Abyss a tool that opens up new musical dimensions.
