Unlike the regular dampening and protection pads, the Evans EQ Patch is not made of a nylon or Cordura fabric, which dissolves during fast play especially with the wood, hard rubber or plastic side of the mallet, dissolves into its components within weeks, exposing the sticky underside.

The EQ patch is instead made of a rough mylar film and often lasts longer than the skin itself. It provides for more focused overtones as well as a tidied up low bass range. while playing absolutely natural due to its nature as a mylar pad.
