The very first solid body guitar offered by Fender in the 50s was the Esquire. With its simple yet elegant silhouette, an adjustable 3-saddle bridge and a single lap-steel pickup in the bridge position, the Esquire laid the foundation for all subsequent solid-body electric guitars and was the forerunner of the more famous Telecaster.
Like the first Esquire models, the 70th Anniversary Esquire has a pine wood body. It is a light wood known for its powerful and complex tone, which has been enhanced by a roasting treatment that significantly improves the body's resonance. A lacquered U-shaped guitar neck, a Tim Shawn-designed Esquire bridge pickup, an anniversary guitar neck plate and a tweed case are among the other features that make the 70th Anniversary Esquire an exceptional instrument.
