The body of the Fender American Vintage II 1972 Tele Thinline Candy Apple Red electric guitar is made of semi-hollow ash and features a single F-hole. This construction gives the instrument its typical Thinline character and promotes an open, resonant tone. The body finish is gloss polyurethane in Candy Apple Red.
The 4-ply Aged White Pearloid pickguard is one of this model’s most striking visual features. Together with the chrome-plated pickup covers, nickel/chrome hardware, and the classic Telecaster® shape, it creates an unmistakable ’70s look. The HH pickup configuration is controlled via a 3-position blade switch. In position 1, the bridge pickup is active; position 2 combines the bridge and neck pickups; and position 3 activates the neck pickup. The electronics are controlled via master volume and master tone. The potentiometers have a value of 1 megohm.
The neck of the Fender American Vintage II 1972 Tele Thinline Candy Apple Red electric guitar is made of one-piece maple and features a gloss polyurethane finish. The 1972 “C” neck profile ensures a comfortable playing feel that complements the instrument’s vintage character. The neck is constructed with a 3-bolt design.
The maple fingerboard has a 7.25" radius (184.1 mm). With 21 vintage tall frets, black dot position markers, and black side dots, it offers the classic Fender feel of that era. The bullet-style truss rod and the 3-bolt “F”-stamped headstock with Micro-Tilt™ mechanism are also typical details of the 1972 production year.
The Fender American Vintage II 1972 Tele Thinline Candy Apple Red electric guitar is equipped with a Pure Vintage 6-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge with curved steel saddles. The bridge is mounted using a 3-screw vintage-style hardtail configuration. A chrome bridge cover is included.
Additional hardware details include Pure Vintage Fender® “F” stamped tuning machines, butterfly string trees, vintage-style strap buttons, knurled flat-top volume and tone knobs, and a black top-hat-style switch cap. The guitar is strung with Fender® USA 250R nickel-plated steel strings in .010-.046 gauge.
