The Starcaster was developed in the 1970s as an unconventional answer to classic semi-hollow designs - with an offset shape, full-length center block and two humbuckers. The Affinity Series brings this cult classic back in an affordable form. With modern playing comfort, robust workmanship and the typical Fender® look, the Affinity Starcaster is a stylish and flexible instrument for beginners and advanced players alike.
The body of the Starcaster is made of laminated maple, which in combination with the center block provides a balanced mix of resonance and feedback resistance - ideal for clean sounds, crunch riffs or distorted leads. The striking offset body shape clearly stands out from classic semis and gives the guitar its very own character. The black body binding provides an elegant contrast to the high-gloss Olympic White finish.
The maple neck in a comfortable "C" profile combined with the silk-matt urethane finish offers a pleasant, natural playing feel. The maple fingerboard with a 9.5" radius and 22 narrow-tall frets provides a balanced mix of chord and solo playability. The nut width is 42 mm (1.650") - a familiar size for players of all experience levels.
The Affinity Starcaster is equipped with two standard humbuckers that provide warm, powerful sounds with rich mids and harmonic overtones via a HH configuration. Whether jazz, indie, blues, alternative or rock - these pickups deliver the right sound. The electronics are controlled via a 3-way pickup selector switch as well as master volume and master tone controls.
The 6-saddle bridge with stop tailpiece ensures stable tuning, clean intonation and excellent sustain. The die-cast tuning machines work reliably and precisely - a clear advantage in everyday use and on stage. The chrome-plated hardware, the 3-ply white pickguard and the classic amplifier-style knobs with base round off the look in style.
