Hagstrom H8-II Bass
When talking about 8-string basses, the name Hagstrom is mentioned in the same breath. This is because Hagstrom was the first manufacturer of a mass-produced 8-string bass: the H8. At the end of the 1960s, many of the beat and hard rock icons were particularly keen to experiment and cast its unusual sound, sometimes in psychedelic songs, for eternity. However, the H8 has not only outlasted the experimental phase of the 1960s, but is undeniably timeless. Hagstrom has authentically reissued the original 8-string bass from 1967 with the H8-II from the RetroScape series. The inimitably brilliant sound is reborn with this model.
H8-II - The authentic rebirth of a legend
What makes the H8-II so special? The octave sound produced by the treble strings is like a one; without the "tracking" familiar from electronic devices. The narrow neck, the congenial 8-string bridge (string-through-body) and the short scale length ensure the playability of the string pairs. The well-known "H-Expander" truss rod always ensures optimum adjustment, even with the increased string tension of the eight strings. It also makes a significant contribution to the magnificent sustain behavior.
Hagstrom's own "Dyna-Rail" humbuckers sound rich, but can also be split to "single-coil" mode via the volume pot. The pickups can be switched on and off individually using a slide switch. The global "Tone" and "Mute" slide switches provide further interesting sound dimensions. The overall package is rounded off by the authentic "double cutaway" body shape, which fits seamlessly into the design language of the RetroScape series and will win over even the last vintage freak.
