The Tube Amp Revolution Part II
At first glance similar to the Switchblade, the only clues that this is a different animal altogether are the letters TSC and four small LEDs next to a slot in the sheet metal on the rear panel. What you can’t see is what goes on inside as soon as incoming voltage breathes life into the tubes. An on-board technician immediately gets to work, making sure the tubes feel good, live long, and sound great. This gives you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your precious tone is in capable hands and your amp is always biased properly for the installed tubes.
Informed guitarists know how important it is to correctly adjust the amp’s idle current because the bias point has a decisive impact on the amp’s sound. Unfortunately, many factors can cause a tube’s bias point to fluctuate over its lifetime - temperature differences, knocks during transport, and simple aging. That’s why a tube amplifier does not always sound the same, especially after swapping one or several tubes. So a service technician always has to re-bias a conventional amp.
To spare you that hassle and considerable cost, we developed TSC, short for Tube Safety Control. This revolutionary circuit automatically adjusts bias, ensuring optimum idle current. Just a few seconds after you power up the amp, the tubes will operate under ideal conditions, even in the event of a tube defect. TSC then switches off and indicates the faulty tube to you, but lets you continue playing the amp! Simply pop in a replacement tube during the break and you’re back to rocking at full power. That’s all it takes to lay to rest the tube amp lover’s biggest fear : a tube defect during a gig. TSC...and the show will go on.
A quick glance at the four small LEDs on the back of your Switchblade TSC tells you whether or not it’s working properly. And the small slot on the back turns you into a tube expert : simply insert a pick to get a read-out of the ratings!
