The Intech Studio BU16 MK3 Mechanical (Series 3) is a compact, high-precision pad controller for creative applications in music production, live performance, media control and more. Equipped with 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive Gateron reverb effect buttons in a 4x4 grid, this module offers an impressively responsive control surface - ideal for triggering samples, launching clips, finger drumming or sending shortcuts and macros in professional creative setups.
Each button has its own RGB LED backlighting for visual feedback, while the textured fiberglass front panel with its non-slip surface ensures stability and durability in everyday use. The BU16's fully configurable architecture allows for seamless integration into a wide range of creative environments - from DAW to VJ software.
With the BU16 MK3, Intech Studio offers a versatile key module that is not only durable but also particularly expressive thanks to the Gateron reverb effect switches. The keys support velocity- and pressure-sensitive inputs, allowing for nuanced control - ideal for velocity-based triggers or performative applications such as finger drumming.
Each key is complemented by LED-illuminated, interchangeable keycaps. The cut-outs in the caps make the LED indicators clearly visible even when used directly. Whether visual grouping, status display or animated feedback - all LEDs are individually programmable via the grid editor, including brightness, color and animation.
The BU16 MK3 is versatile and suitable for a wide range of creative applications:
The toggle modes of the buttons can be configured individually: as a momentary button, 2-step or 3-step toggle. This results in versatile control options for sequences, layers or status functions.
Like all modules in the MK3 series, the BU16 is fully modular and can be connected to other Intech controllers in any direction via a magnetic grid interface - horizontally, vertically or as a grid system. This allows the BU16 to be seamlessly integrated into individual workflows or expanded into a larger control system.
The connection is made via a USB-C connection with 250 mA power consumption. The controller is cross-platform compatible - with macOS, Windows, Linux and mobile platforms. It supports native USB protocols such as MIDI, HID keyboard, mouse and game control, making it a flexible interface for many creative environments.
The utility side button allows switching between layers, presets or modes - a must-have for complex setups or live situations with changing control contexts.
The housing of the BU16 MK3 consists of an injection-molded base and a textured fiberglass front panel. This combination ensures high durability, grip and stability - even when used intensively in the performance sector or for mobile productions. The hot-swap function of the buttons allows switches to be exchanged by removing the front panel - ideal for personalized setups or maintenance.
The BU16 MK3 Mechanical is a powerful pad controller that impresses with its precise buttons, RGB feedback and complete configurability. Whether for music production, media control, live performance or creative shortcut control, this grid module offers responsive feel, high expressiveness and full integration into modular setups.
Thanks to its robust design, flexible programmability (incl. LUA) and comprehensive platform compatibility, the BU16 is an essential tool for creatives who need control, overview and expression at the highest level.
