The KORG opsix synthesizer uses classic FM synthesis with 6 operators, which it raises to a completely new level due to numerous new features. Thus, the legendary FM sounds, which shaped a whole musical decade in the 80s, as well as contemporary, brute sounds for modern EDM productions and cinematic sound effects and soundscapes can be realized in no time at all.
The newly developed Operator Mixer gives you instant access to the volume and pitch of the individual modulator and carrier signals. Multi-coloured LEDs dynamically indicate the respective assignment of the individual controls. Further parameters can be set quickly and intuitively with the 6 DATA-ENTRY knobs, whose respective function is shown on the crisp OLED display.
The 5 different operator modes FM, Ring Modulation, Filter, Filter FM and Wave Folder expand the previous possibilities of FM synthesis many times over, opening the way to previously unheard of sound worlds. While classic FM synthesizers only offered a sine waveform for the oscillators, the opsix delivers 21 hand-selected waveforms with different overtone structures. 40 different algorithms plus the possibility to create your own user algorithms allow unlimited creativity when creating new sounds. But that's not all, the opsix also offers a versatile multi-mode filter with 11 different filter types, with which sounds can be subtractively deformed in best analog manner. The lavishly equipped modulation section with 3 LFOs, 3 ADSR envelopes and a virtual patch-bay with 12 different routings also leaves nothing to be desired. For the final refinement of your own sound creations, there are 3 effect instances with a total of 30 different effect types available, including numerous classics as well as more unusual effects such as different guitar amp models, decimator and grain shifter. The oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer functions in the central OLED display provide real-time visual feedback on the created sounds, making it easier to work out specific sonic aspects.
For rhythmically animated sounds the opsix is equipped with a 6-fold polyphonic step sequencer with motion sequencing for up to 6 different sound parameters and a versatile arpeggiator. Boundless inspiration is provided by the randomize function, which generates completely new sounds or selected sound aspects on a random basis if desired. The Smooth Sound Transition (SST) known from the KRONOS allows seamless switching between different sounds without tearing off held notes or effect flags. 64 Favourite memories provide quick access to personal favourites from the up to 500 sounds that can be stored (250 are preset at the factory). And as if that wasn't enough, a download code for a comprehensive software package is also included, which includes numerous software sound generators from KORG and other manufacturers, the mastering plug-in Ozone Elements from iZotope and the DAW software Reason Lite.
