He is so captivated by the sound and energy that he soon decides to get his own bongos, but fails due to trade embargoes that made it impossible to import high quality bongos from Cuba at the time. So Martin Cohen used his technical know-how and built his first own bongo set. A little later - in 1964 he founded Latin Percussion (LP) and started to deliver bongos and cowbells, wrapped in brown paper, to musicians in the clubs. This close connection and the exchange of first-hand experience with the artists of the Latin music scene, contribute significantly to the success story of the brand and are still an integral part of the company's philosophy - the demands of the musicians come first.
