BASIS 11K amplifier

The BASIS 11K active bass loudspeaker complements the lower octave of our active control loudspeakers and serves as a central bass unit for stereo playback. If desired, the woofer can also be integrated into surround speaker systems using our BCU7.1 multichannel bass processor. Furthermore, the subwoofer can be operated with suitable AV receivers so that optimum interaction is also possible with our passive high-end loudspeakers.

We have developed a special long-stroke bass system for the BASIS 11K that guarantees low-distortion reproduction. The subwoofer has a cardioid radiation pattern to minimize rear room reflections. Thanks to the so-called K technology, which we have been using successfully for many years with our 3 and 4-way active loudspeakers, the backward attenuation of more than 10 dB allows excellent results to be achieved even in acoustically critical rooms. As a result of this construction principle, the placement of the bass loudspeaker in your listening room is considerably simplified.

The amplifier output stage works with a 1000 W PWM power module. An electronic limiter serves as a protection device and protects the woofer driver from overloads. An LED located at the rear indicates the activation of the protection device as well as the operating status. The distance from the front loudspeaker to the bass loudspeaker can be from 0 to 1 m. The distance from the front loudspeaker to the bass loudspeaker can be from 0 to 1 m. Phase correction is possible in this range. The lower cut-off frequency can be increased to 40 Hz by means of a switchable high-pass filter. The crossover frequency is continuously adjustable between 60 and 80 Hz. The transmission range of the LFE channel ends at 120 Hz. The entire control and power electronics as well as all plug and operating elements are integrated in the rear of the housing.

As an option, the bass loudspeaker is available with a cover grille. An output on the subwoofer enables the passive version of the BASIS 11K - the so-called BASIS 11KP - to be operated. This extension doubles performance and makes the choice of installation location less critical. Furthermore, the system can be switched to bypass mode with a wired remote control. All output channels are connected directly to the input channels - the bass channel is deactivated, the LFE channel remains active.
