Description

The RL906 is a compact two-way loudspeaker that has been consistently optimized for use as a nearfield monitor. Whether in the OB van, on the meter bridge or in the home studio as well as a noble hi-fi monitor - the RL906 cuts a convincing figure everywhere.

Thanks to the ME coaxial technology, it was possible to realize a directional characteristic that is specially tailored to the requirements of the near field, i.e. with small base widths and short listening distances. Homogeneity, timbre neutrality and localization sharpness remain largely compatible with those of the larger RL series loudspeakers. This allows for seamless operation, with no settling-in periods over the entire audio production, whether in the OB van, at the editing suite, or in the large control room. While the RL906 is barely larger than a control monitor, it has the power of a full-fledged control room speaker. Both bass response and maximum level more than meet most challenges. In 5-channel applications and productions where greater low bass levels are required, the RL906 combines excellently with our BASIS series, bringing its performance even closer to the larger models.

The loudspeaker is equipped with a 13 cm cone woofer and a coaxially arranged 25 mm dome tweeter, driven by separate MOSFET power amplifiers with active crossover and electronic overload protection in the rear cabinet section. The RL906 has a balanced XLR input with calibratable sensitivity. Furthermore, there is the possibility of an additional adjustment of the transmission response to the acoustic conditions of the reproduction room and the installation conditions by means of an analogue local adjustment filter, in the low and high frequencies, as well as around 300 Hz. A two-color LED serves as an operating indicator and warns of overloads.
