Over fifty years ago, Charles Kaman brought his idea of a modern guitar to the world market.

With Ovation Guitars, the ambitious guitarist realized his dreams and opened his own guitar company with a difference. On the one hand, he was inspired by traditional standards, but on the other hand, he also had a pronounced openness to new technologies, which he owed to his roots as a developer and manufacturer of helicopters. Kaman dared to approach guitar making in a way that is still highly polarizing today. The combination of a special fiber-plastic composite (Lyrachord®) and a parabolic body shape (Roundback®) were the ingredients for a completely new sound experience on the then already crowded acoustic guitar market.

Finally, the breakthrough was made possible by the electro-acoustic version of the Ovation guitar.

Again, Kaman's experience in the aviation industry led the way for a development that resulted in the first piezoelectric pickup. This allowed acoustic guitarists to maintain their presence in full band arrangements, or soloists to perform at large open-air venues, without sacrificing sound quality.

This unique sound, coupled with the playing comfort of an electric guitar, still makes the Ovation a must-have for guitarists in clubs and stadiums alike.
