Palmer Pro PLI 06 Line Level Convertor

The Palmer Pro PLI 06 Line Level Convertor is suitable for presentations and talks that are mainly designed with the support of PC and other media devices. For larger audiences, the connection of these devices to the existing sound system is a problem due to incompatible connections. The Palmer Line Level Convertor PLI06 allows you to adjust an unbalanced stereo signal, typically supplied by a laptop, to a balanced (mono) microphone input of a professional sound mixer. The stereo signal is mixed to a mono signal via a resistor network and then converted in impedance and balanced via a high-quality audio transformer specially developed for this application. The use of a transformer simultaneously excludes the formation of ground loops and the associated unwanted humming. The box works purely passively and therefore requires no power supply.

If the device to be connected has cinch (RCA) output sockets, it is connected to the input sockets of the PLI06 using a shielded cable with 2 x cinch plugs at both ends. Experience with laptops has shown that the headphone output, usually a mini jack (3.5 mm stereo jack plug), delivers the best results. For the connection to the PLI06 you need a shielded cable with 3.5mm stereo jack on one side and 2x Cinich on the other end. Since the input lines to the PLI06 are unbalanced, the susceptibility to interference is higher for these cables, the cables should be short and the speaker should therefore be placed close to the source. The output of the PLI06 is realized by a standard XLR/m connector with standard wiring. For the connection to the mixing console, use a microphone cable of the appropriate quality; the length is largely uncritical due to the symmetrical low impedance cable routing. This applies to both interferences and sound losses.
