Pittsburgh Modular TAIGA Keyboard Product Details

Description

With the Pittsburgh Taiga Keyboard, the American manufacturer presents an exciting further development of its award-winning TAIGA synthesizer. TAIGA Keyboard combines modern Pittsburgh modular innovations in a unique way and offers a wide range of possibilities for musicians. Based on the powerful setup of the TAIGA synthesizer, an expressive keyboard instrument has been created that convinces with clever additional functions.

Taiga Keyboard is an evolution of the award-winning Taiga synthesizer. Taiga offered users a boundary-pushing suite of unique modern Pittsburgh Modular analog synthesizer innovations. In Taiga Keyboard, the same powerful suite of tools now serves as the foundation for this expressive keyboard instrument.

By expanding the keyboard format, distributing the controls and adding larger knobs, shaping sounds during performance is easier than ever. Two additional modulation sources, additional controls, a 37-key premium keyboard with aftertouch function and a new type of expansion slot for Eurorack modules have also been added.

The waveforms generated by the three Taiga Keyboard oscillators go far beyond the basic geometric shapes and sounds of analog synthesis. Taiga Keyboard waveforms pass through up to three proprietary, cascading waveshapers to precisely manipulate their symmetry and harmonic content. In addition, each oscillator has a robust six-stage waveshaper that adds even more complexity and depth to Taiga Keyboard's diverse sound. Dedicated coarse and fine controls provide maximum flexibility and control over the full range of each oscillator.

The Pittsburgh filter has always defined the sound of the manufacturer's products: A typically smooth and relaxed sound with no dead spots, optimized to perfection. It offers a warm, smooth sweep across the entire frequency range and a sweet resonance that doesn't fall off in the low frequencies. This generation of the Pittsburgh filter has been specifically designed to work remarkably well with the Taiga keyboard's oscillators.

Pittsburgh's new Dynamics technology gives the Taiga Keyboard a unique organic depth and presence. By controlling amplitude and harmonic content simultaneously, the Pittsburgh Dynamics controller goes beyond the one-dimensional VCA found in other synthesizers. It does this by utilizing new developments from traditional low-pass gates to add definition and dimension to Taiga Keyboard's voice. In low-pass gate mode, the sounds lose harmonic content and become warmer as the volume decreases. This mimics how sound waves react to their environment. This combination makes the Taiga keyboard sound more natural and complex compared to other instruments.

Echos is a beautiful, dark analog delay tuned to enhance the source material by repeating it over and over again. Echos uses a pair of bucket brigade delay chips to create a classic voltage-controllable analog delay effect that helps place the sounds of Taiga Keyboard in a simulated environment.

Pittsburgh Taiga Keyboard has an internally defined signal path. Patch cables are not necessary to start exploring. A midi keyboard, speaker or DAW is all you need and Taiga Keyboard is ready to be played with a quick but familiar workflow. When ideas outgrow the predefined signal path, a 64-point patch panel opens up a fully modular instrument with access to an even greater number of functions and tools.

Staying true to its modular roots, the manufacturer has included a 24HP eurorack-compatible expansion slot that allows the Taiga keyboard to be customized to suit personal sound and performance requirements.

The Taiga keyboard has an integrated 37-key keyboard with aftertouch, pitch bend and modwheel. The keyboard can be used as a separate USB/Din MIDI controller with Local On/Off modes. Thanks to dedicated octave up/down buttons, the instrument's range can be switched at any time.
