Powered by its own 65-watt Class A/B power amplifier, the R80 V2's custom-designed 6.8" Air Motion Transformer (AMT) excels at accurately reproducing the very highest frequencies, giving the sound a sense of airiness, spaciousness and depth. The amazingly thin folded (< 0.01 mm) Kapton® cone, which responds to the electrical control signal without delay, also allows the tweeter to respond directly, reproducing transients in the original wave cycle.

In the R80 V2, the unique AMT design also provides eight to thirteen times greater sound field coverage than conventional tweeter designs, while keeping the sound field strictly limited to horizontal extension thanks to the R80 V2's unique enclosure design. The result is a very wide sweet spot with a focused vertical dispersion pattern. Reflections from the work surface, floor and ceiling, which could cause problematic phase and coherence issues, are kept to a minimum. Due to the minimal response to interference in the respective monitoring room, the R80 V2 studio monitors always perform as expected and always sound consistent even when used in different monitoring environments.

The diaphragm of the 8" woofer in the R80 V2 is made of a composite material woven for maximum rigidity, which guarantees uniform dispersion over the entire frequency range and the best possible response with maximum linearity. A proprietary 75-watt Class A/B power amplifier provides ample overdrive reserves and impressively distortion-free reproduction that won't cause fatigue even at high volumes.
