With the ADI-2 Pro, RME introduces a reference-class AD/DA converter in its anniversary year. It combines several units in one, with a simple and in most cases automated operation, and is therefore ready for operation right out of the box. The unit features an impressive size to function ratio, a practical design with excellent technical specifications, and two extremely powerful headphone outputs.
The ADI-2 Pro is equipped with two servo-balanced analog inputs via XLR/jack combo connectors, separate balanced and unbalanced outputs as XLR and jack, two Extreme Power stereo headphone outputs on the front panel, an ADAT-compatible optical SPDIF I/O, as well as coaxial SPDIF (RCA) and AES I/O (XLR) via the included cable whip. These extensive connectivity options allow high-quality and flexible signal transmission without compromise.
The 4-channel AD converter supports 786 kHz sample rate and DSD recording. It is used in a dual mono design, with 3 dB increased signal-to-noise ratio. Two premium DACs provide two separate stereo outputs. The internal audio processing, such as EQs, crossfeed and spectral analysis, is provided by a powerful DSP with 2.17 Giga FLOPS (2882 MIPS), with enough processing power to operate at 768 kHz sample rate.
For ease of use, a high-quality sample rate converter that can be switched to SPDIF or AES input effectively eliminates all clocking problems between SPDIF and AES. And RME's latest SteadyClock FS technology ensures perfect jitter suppression and stable clocking, no matter if internal or external clocks are used.
RME has equipped the ADI-2 Pro with numerous unique features. For example, parametric 5-band EQs for completely individual sound adjustment, adjustable bass/treble control with access, a binaural crossfeed function, an adjustable loudness filter, selectable AD/DA filters, four discrete I/O reference levels, Auto Reference level switching, Auto Balanced headphone operation, and many more. The display is not only for operating the unit, it also shows warnings and operating aids.
Professional features such as M/S processing, stereo width and phase inversion, as well as full control over all settings including memory function are also available. In addition, the popular RME Spectral Analyzer, a 30-band analysis tool with biquad filter, offers unrivaled musical visualization, which is optimally displayed on the high-resolution IPS display.
The ADI-2 Pro is RME's reference AD/DA converter, USB DAC, USB interface and headphone amplifier. Its numerous application scenarios make it the ideal choice in many areas, from the home user who wants innovative solutions with highest sound quality, the studio owner looking for a reference AD/DA converter, the hi-fi enthusiast who demands a flexible high-end headphone amp, to the industry using the portable device as a frontend for measurement systems. 20 years of RME - combined in one precious device that is never given out of your hands again, once heard and used. That's a promise.
