With its retro workflow, dynamic sounds and powerful effects, the JD-800 has earned a firm place in the studios of top electronic music producers throughout the '90s and beyond. The JD-08 combines the original waveforms of the JD-800 with advanced modeling technologies. In addition to the hands-on concept of the original, the JD-08 also features greatly expanded polyphony, a two-part polyphonic sequencer, and other modern updates.
Inspiring sounds at your fingertips.
In the early '90s, preset-based digital synthesizers dominated the scene. The ability to shape sound directly with your hands was limited. In 1991, everything changed. With an extensive haptic control surface and an aggressive electronic sound palette, the digital JD-800 took synthesizers back to their roots. The JD-08 features the 64 presets of the hardware original and perfectly reproduces the concept of four sound layers. Furthermore, 108 waveforms as well as the unique two-part multi-effects of the JD-800 form the basis for the intricate, ever-evolving sound.
Advanced sounds for modern times.
For the JD-08, we've kept the original design of the JD-800 - while adding a number of modernizations that will take your experience to a new level. This includes the new patches and 256 memory locations where you can store your newly created sounds. On that note, the expanded polyphony and dual multitimbral operation give you even more options to live out your sonic ideas.
Moving music.
Once you've created your patches, the two-part polyphonic sequencer comes into play: program your leads, basslines or basic chords and sync everything to the other devices in your electronic ensemble. With the motion recording function and the integrated arpeggiator, you can then bring movement into your sounds and make your lines dance.
MIDI, USB and external clock input
The JD-08 features a built-in USB-C audio/MIDI interface that lets you use the synth in sync with any computer production software. There are also MIDI inputs and outputs for connecting external MIDI hardware. There's even a connector for an external clock to control the JX-08's sequencer and arpeggiator via vintage analog instruments and modern Eurorack systems.
