1985 was a milestone for hybrid synthesis: the innovative Roland JX-8P hit the market and wowed with its analogue-digital sounds. Immediately, the instrument became a favorite of countless session musicians, who forever immortalized the warm pads, shimmering chorus and crystalline textures in the great hits of the era. With the JX-08, the unique sound of this sought-after classic is back. In stunning detail, combined with powerful new effects, a polyphonic sequencer and more. Plus, the JX-08 features all the fader control of the PG-800 external programming unit of the time, adding to the creative flow.
Classic sound. Modern implementation.
For the JX-08, we've kept the original design of the JX-8P - yet made a number of modernizations that take your experience to a new level. Discover more than 100 new patches designed for modern musical styles, or build your own sounds using the JX-08's controls. Plus, expanded polyphony, dual multitimbral operation, and dual/split modes give you even more options to explore your sonic ideas. To store your custom sounds, you have 256 preset locations at your disposal.
Even more effects.
The JX-08 comes equipped with 17 powerful effects, many of them new to the Roland boutique portfolio. Make your JX patches shine with classic chorus, phaser and delay. Or add some dirt with the overdrive, fuzz, bit crusher and new lo-fi compressor. Pitch shifters are also available to add dimension and character to your sounds.
Moving music.
Once you've created your patches, the two-part polyphonic sequencer comes into play: program your leads, basslines or basic chords and sync everything to the other devices in your electronic ensemble. With the motion recording function and the integrated arpeggiator, you can then bring movement into your sounds and make your lines dance.
MIDI, USB and external clock input...
The JX-08 features a built-in USB-C audio/MIDI interface that lets you use the synth in sync with any computer production software. There are also MIDI inputs and outputs for connecting external MIDI hardware. There's even a connector for an external clock to control the JX-08's sequencer and arpeggiator via vintage analog instruments and modern Eurorack systems.
