The Sequential Fourm Analog Synthesizer is a new masterpiece of analog sound generation. This compact but sonically powerful instrument combines modern expressiveness with the proven DNA of classic sequential synthesizers. The Fourm stands for musical inspiration, performance and innovative design - an ideal tool for producers, performers and sound researchers alike.
With its four real analog voices, polyphonic aftertouch, an intuitive modulation matrix and a warm, dynamic sound, the Fourm represents a new generation of polysynthesizers. Whether on stage or in the studio, this synth delivers creative output with character and depth - for musicians who want more than presets and menus.
Sequential, founded by Dave Smith, is one of the most renowned brands in the world of synthesizers. The company has written music history with classics such as the Prophet-5 and the Pro-One. The Sequential Fourm analog synthesizer is a worthy addition to this line - with modern technology that still retains the iconic Sequential sound.
Sequential's philosophy has always been: "Enabling creativity through simplicity." The Fourm follows this credo uncompromisingly. The workmanship is high-quality, the interface well thought-out, the sound generation profound. Sequential shows once again that analog is not old-fashioned - but timeless.
At the heart of the Sequential Fourm analog synthesizer is a 4-voice analog voice architecture inspired by the legendary Prophet 5. Each voice channel has two oscillators with waveforms that can be activated simultaneously - for a full, complex sound character. Oscillator B offers additional low frequency modes (LFO), allowing creative modulations directly from the oscillator.
The filter module is based on a classic 4-pole low-pass filter with resonance - refined by bass compensation, which ensures powerful but clean basses. A drive circuit adds additional feedback and harmonic overtones to the signal path. The result is an organic, lively sound with character and assertiveness.
Two ADSR envelopes are available for precise shaping of volume and filter response. The sound generation is complemented by a step sequencer that supports "glide per step" - ideal for flowing basslines or expressive melodies. The arpeggiator also offers a sequencer mode that opens up new rhythmic and harmonic possibilities.
A special highlight is the 37-key keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch. This allows a level of expressiveness that goes far beyond conventional keyboards. From sensitive vibrato to volume-based swells: with this keyboard, the playing feel becomes a source of inspiration.
The modulation matrix on the top is reminiscent of the Pro~One - visually implemented with color-coded LEDs that directly indicate modulation routes. "Sources" and "Destinations" can be connected in no time at all, without any menus. This maintains the creative flow and makes complex sound design child's play.
The Fourm's signal path is 100 % analog. Nevertheless, the synth is perfectly equipped for modern setups: MIDI In, Out and Thru, USB-MIDI, jack outputs for audio, headphone connection and a pedal input offer full integration into the studio or live rig.
The Sequential Fourm analog synthesizer is aimed at musicians who love the classic analog sound but don't want to do without modern playing functions. The combination of compact design, polyphonic aftertouch, intuitive modulation and the legendary Prophet sound generation make it a real all-rounder.
Whether as a powerful live instrument or as a creative center in the studio - the Fourm is versatile and impresses with its musical expressiveness, tonal depth and ease of use. Anyone looking for a high-quality, inspiring synthesizer with character will find the Fourm a reliable partner for many years to come.
The device also impresses with its robust construction: A professional all-steel housing protects the technology even during everyday touring. The dimensions of 56.2 x 25.1 x 7.0 cm and a weight of 3.97 kg make the synthesizer easy to transport and stable at the same time.
Last but not least, Sequential offers an excellent sound basis with 128 factory-programmed presets that are immediately ready to play - from warm pads to crisp basses and aggressive leads. These can of course be adjusted and overwritten at any time.
