Designed specifically for Cubase production environments, the CC121 enables haptic control of DAW applications. The CC121's innovative control concept combines a highly flexible 'AI Knob' with dedicated controls for key Cubase functions to deliver unprecedented speed. Built from high-quality components, the CC121 is the perfect extension for any Cubase studio.
With the 1.5 update, the CC121 controller has been given a number of useful new functions, including control of the Cubase Quick Controls with the EQ section controls and AI Knob "Point & Control" for VST 2.x plug-ins (Cubase 5.1 required).
The CC121 offers Plug&Play on a completely new level. The controller is ready for use in a single step. Simply connect the CC121 to a USB port on your computer - no additional setup or settings are required. The 'Cubase Ready' LED indicates that the CC121 is correctly connected to Cubase and that all functions are available. Instant Plug&Play is just the beginning of a host of new integrative features that make CC121 and Cubase a unique hardware/software production system.
The CC121 draws its power directly from the computer's USB port. Connected to it, the controller immediately offers full remote control of Cubase. If the supplied power supply is connected, the motor fader automatically displays the level of the selected channel.
One of the main advantages of the CC121 is the mirroring of important Cubase functions on the controller interface. Unlike other DAW controllers, the CC121 offers controls specifically designed for Cubase. Cubase users don't have to deal with the operation of the controller first, but can work with Cubase just as intuitively as before - with all the advantages of a hardware mixer. All Cubase functions can be controlled ergonomically and long mouse paths are a thing of the past.
Probably the most innovative element of the CC121 is the new 'AI Knob', a high-precision knob for easy control of almost all Cubase parameters. The unique concept takes advantage of the flexibility of the computer mouse to edit parameters and adjust settings at unprecedented speed. The mouse pointer is simply moved over a virtual knob and the corresponding parameter can be precisely controlled with the AI knob - without any further settings, neither in Cubase nor on the hardware. The Lock switch can be used to fix the parameter selection so that the assignment remains even if the mouse is moved to another position.
In addition to the unique AI Knob, CC121 offers a number of dedicated controls for important Cubase functions such as transport, mixer channel settings and EQ parameters. The high-quality control elements allow the direct calling/editing of specific functions - without any cumbersome setup or annoying parameter assignments. The color coding of the buttons analog to the corresponding Cubase controls simplifies the easy navigation with the CC121.
The most important Cubase transport functions can be controlled directly with the CC121. The CC121 offers a compact and easy-to-use transport section - an image of the Cubase transport field.
The CC121 is equipped with controllers that are specially adapted to the Cubase channel strip controls for a highly efficient mixing workflow. These include buttons for Solo, Mute, Record, 'e' Settings Button, Automation Read and Write, Pan and VSTi Editor - all with the same color coding as the corresponding Cubase buttons.
A special feature of the CC121 is the touch-sensitive 100mm motorized fader. This is identical in construction to the motor faders used in Yamaha's professional digital consoles and gives you full haptic control over the volume of a selected channel or group.
At the touch of a button, the channel settings window or the user interface of a VST instrument can be opened for further editing with AI Knob and mouse - another example of the sophisticated Cubase integration!
A unique feature of CC121 is the EQ section - a complete hardware image of the Cubase Channel EQ. 12 knobs are available for Q-factor, frequency and gain of the four frequency bands. The right settings can be found quickly and intuitively. Each EQ band also has an On/Off switch. A global bypass switch and a switch for selecting the EQ type complete the equipment.
The four Function Buttons on the Front Panel can be freely assigned any Cubase parameters to suit your personal workflow. For example, the zoom factor of the selected track can be controlled here. Cubase 4 also includes useful templates for the Control Room Mixer (Studio Sends and Monitoring Setup).
