The Tascam FR-AV4 Audio Recorder is equipped with the latest technology to ensure the highest sound quality with maximum flexibility. The HDMI trigger function enables the camera to start and stop recording automatically - a great help in everyday set-up work. For even more flexibility, several FR-AV4 devices can be cascaded via HDMI to expand the number of channels.
The FR-AV4 also impresses as a USB-C audio interface: it offers four inputs and two outputs for use with Windows, macOS, iOS and Android systems. This makes the recorder a reliable recording device with 32-bit float technology, even in the home office or studio.
With the release of firmware version 1.10, the Tascam FR-AV4 Audio Recorder receives a decisive functional enhancement: the integrated auto mixer. This feature is specially tailored to scenarios with multiple microphone sources - such as interviews, panel discussions or discussion groups. The auto-mixer automatically recognizes which microphone is currently active, highlights it and intelligently reduces the level of unused channels. This reduces distracting background noise and significantly improves speech intelligibility.
A highlight of the auto mixer is the so-called gain sharing process: Unlike with simple attenuation, the overall volume remains stable as the gain is distributed dynamically to all microphone channels. The result is a balanced, transparent mix - even with changing speakers.
The auto mixer can be controlled both directly via the device and via the free "Tascam Recorder Connect" app. This means that users always retain control of the mix, even in complex recording situations. This update underlines Tascam's commitment to continuously develop its products even after market launch and to deliver practical functions.
