The functions of the Technics SL-1200M7B are based on the SL-1200MK7/SL-1210MK7 models, while the design is inspired by the iconic Y-shape of Automobili Lamborghini. The SL-1200M7B is available in three different colors: orange, green and yellow, in reference to the iconic colors of the Italian super sports car brand. Automobili Lamborghini and Technics operate in completely different markets, but share the same values with pioneering ideas and approaches: disruptive technological developments, a corporate culture rooted in the spirit of uncompromising craftsmanship, and the pursuit of emotional sounds that inspire customers - at Automobili Lamborghini the sound of engines, at Technics the sound of audio. The SL-1200M7B is the impressive result of the collaboration and innovative ideas of both brands.
The Technics SL-1200M7B comes with an original vinyl record featuring the powerful V12 engine and driving sounds of six different Automobili Lamborghini supercars, a slipmat and two stickers with the Automobili Lamborghini and Technics logos. The design of the record was inspired by the tires of one of the latest Automobili Lamborghini models, the Revuelto. While listening to the sounds of the Automobili Lamborghini V12 engine, you can enjoy the visual effect of the spinning tires on your turntable.
The direct drive system uses a low-speed motor that drives the turntable directly on the same axis. This system offers many advantages, such as excellent synchronization, high drive torque, ease of maintenance and outstanding reliability over the entire service life. Older direct drive motors were characterized by so-called cogging torque, small micro-vibrations caused by magnetic pole reversal processes. The SL-1200M7B uses a new drive motor with a stator without an iron core. This motor is therefore also free of cogging torque. The gap between the coreless stator and the rotor (drive magnet) has been minimized in order to maximize the drive torque. This has made it possible to achieve a torque that corresponds to that of the SL-1200M7B.
The SL-1210MK7 impresses with innovative technologies for motor control. These were primarily used and perfected in the latest generation of Blu-ray players. Thanks to a microcomputer, the controller can easily withstand both normal playback and more demanding DJ applications such as scratching. In addition, the starting torque and braking speed can be adjusted to individual preferences.
The rotation speed of the Technics SL-1210MK7 can be set to 33-1/3, 45 or 78 rpm. (The pickup system must be designed for scratch operation.) The pitch adjustment range is ±8%/±16%. This enables highly precise and stable fine adjustment of the speed as well as perfect matching of e.g. two SL-1210MK7 units in DJ mode. *The use of 78 rpm is activated via the main on/off switch.
If the speed button and the start/stop button are pressed simultaneously, the turntable rotates in the opposite direction. This opens up new, creative possibilities for the DJ. The reverse play function is activated via the main on/off switch.
The tonearm is statically balanced in an S-shape - typical for Technics models. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum, while the bearing section of the cardanic suspension has a milled housing and high-precision bearing elements. This ensures excellent tracking with a minimum of unwanted needle movement, even under rough conditions such as scratching.
The telescopic needle illumination uses a new pressure mechanism and a bright, long-lasting white LED. The illumination range and exposure intensity have also been adjusted. Compared to the previous models, this ensures better visibility of the stylus - even in very dark environments.
The chassis of the Technics SL-1210MK7 is very stable and extremely low-vibration. The injection-molded aluminum chassis is firmly attached to a construction made of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) plastic, which is reinforced with glass fibers. The two-layer construction provides the highest level of strength and vibration damping, guaranteeing faithful, dynamic sound reproduction. Feet made of a spring-rubber construction ensure optimum damping. They also ensure stability during horizontal movement. This combination guarantees uncomplicated handling, especially when scratching, and very good interference immunity - even at very high sound levels.
