The THORENS TD 204 was developed for the audiophile beginner. A turntable with sonic expansion potential for the newcomer. The "high-gloss black" and "high-gloss walnut" finishes, with the typical THORENS design, fit seamlessly into the existing range. The brand identity is underlined by the high quality of workmanship and guarantees a long service life for all Thorens turntables.
The newly developed TP 120 tonearm impresses with its high-quality bearing technology. The bearing play and friction coefficients have been reduced to an astonishingly low level for the price class by using modern bearings. The TP 120 is a genuine 9" aluminum tonearm in J-shape with an effective tonearm mass of just over 15 grams. The visual relationship to the larger TP 150 and TP 124 models is obvious and suggests first-class features.
The removable headshell with SME connector is fitted with an AT95E from the Japanese pickup specialist Audio Technica. Skating compensation is provided by a spring. The connection terminal on the rear features high-quality RCA cinch sockets for a solid connection to the amplifier. An integrated phono pre (can be switched on/off) enables direct connection to a high-level input.
The precision die-cast aluminum platter is rotated by a precision-ground drive belt. The frame of the TD 204 rests on four vibration-damping feet.
