Yamaha's new top-of-the-range Genos2 model sets new standards in arranger workstation sound, incorporating legendary DX7 FM technology, innovative ambient drums and Steinberg's highly acclaimed REVelation reverb. Style Dynamics Control puts you in control of the power and dynamics of all 800 preset styles, adding a whole new musical dimension to style playing. Together with the new high-contrast, anti-glare display and Live Control LEDs, Genos2's features make for a unique musical experience.
Compatibility & expandability:
Thanks to its compatibility support, Genos2 allows easy migration from previous Yamaha instruments. A WIFI adapter is integrated and the "Songbook+" app offers unique two-way communication - ideal for live performance and organizing your own music data. In addition, a new version of the Yamaha Expansion Manager will enable advanced editing of the on-board Voices.
More than 1900 Voices and 800 accompaniment styles:
With over 1900 Voices of the highest quality and 800 accompaniment styles with one-touch settings covering a wide range of musical styles, you'll be instantly inspired to play your favorite songs or even create new musical ideas and compositions. Over 200 accompaniment styles are brand new, and all existing styles have been completely reworked. These include new sounds and effects, including FM sound generation and the ability to use Ambient Drums and Style Dynamics. The result is a professional high-end production.
One of the most important sounds for any keyboard player is the piano. For this reason, we have not only added new pianos, but we have also processed existing piano sounds to a much higher quality. The CFX, Yamaha's flagship piano, now has more dynamic layers, 88-key sampling and twice the sample length of its predecessor. A Character Grand is also available, a well-recorded German grand piano from the 1980s. This stands out with its edgier, yet round sound and is perfect for pop and jazz music, among other things. The U1 Upright, Yamaha's top-of-the-line piano, has been tuned to provide a contemporary sound for modern pop songs. If you're looking for a more cinematic piano sound, you can try the rich, melancholic tone of the new Felt Piano.
The SA2 voices continue to lead the way in playability and authenticity, offering articulations and tone changes not found in any other hardware keyboard instrument. In Genos2 there are even more sounds to choose from, covering not only the full orchestral palette, but also ethnic sounds such as duduk, shakuhachi and a Celtic flute, perfect for film scoring.
Legendary FM synthesis:
As the first arranger workstation, Genos2 features a dual sound generator that not only provides AWM technology, but now also FM synthesis. FM has a rich, dynamic sound and powered Yamaha's legendary DX7, which had a huge impact on the sound of the 1980s. The iconic DX7 presets and a range of new, modern FM voices are integrated into both the accompaniment styles and one-touch settings and can be recalled at the touch of a button, giving the Genos2 a warm and fresh sound.
Ambient Drums:
With the new Ambient Drums, you can choose between a punchy, dry, direct drum sound and a more distant, reflective ambient sound with a single Live controller. This gives you endless possibilities for sound character when playing with accompaniment styles. The drum kit is the backbone of any rhythm section, so this option greatly enhances your playing experience.
Style Dynamics Control:
For the first time in an arranger workstation, the volume and, more importantly, the dynamics of all styles, including user styles, can be changed with a simple live controller. You can choose to play your backing band at a soft pianissimo volume, a punchy fortissimo volume or anything in between.
REVelation Reverb:
Reverb is often neglected, but we experience it all around us every day. In arranger workstations, reverb is used on voices, styles, MIDI songs, multi-pads and the microphone input. That's why the introduction of REVelation Reverb from Steinberg has had such a big impact on the overall sound of Genos2.
REVelation is extremely high-resolution, resulting in a transparent, natural sound. This makes it the perfect addition to an arranger workstation, where reverb can be used across a variety of voices, styles and vocals.
