The range of sounds is made up of two different sound engines: the AWM2 and the FM-X sound engine. The AWM2 is a software developed exclusively for Yamaha, which is much more than just a generic sample player due to its many modulation possibilities. FM-X means "frequency modulation" and is a particularly sophisticated way of synthesis. With the help of the 8 operators and 88 algorithms within the engine, there are many ways to create sounds, whether it's 80's strings or modern techno plucks, the MODX7 can do it. With 128 (AWM2) and 64 (FM-X) voices of stereo polyphony, the flagship is also suitable for lovers of big, jazzy chords.
