For decades, Yamaha has been developing acoustic and electronic instruments for beginners, intermediate players, and professionals alike. Technical Details of the Yamaha CX 40 II 4/4 Classical Guitar

The top of the Yamaha CX 40 II is made of carefully selected spruce—a tonewood known for its clarity and projection. The spruce top delivers a brilliant, transparent sound with defined highs and a solid foundation in the mids. The sides and back are made of meranti, a wood with properties similar to mahogany that lends warmth and richness to the sound.

The neck is crafted from nato, a sturdy wood that is ideal for stable necks. The fingerboard and bridge are made of rosewood—a classic material prized for its hardness, durability, and responsive touch. The combination of these woods results in a harmonious tone and a comfortable playing experience.

The guitar has a scale length of 650 mm (25.59")—the standard measurement for a 4/4 concert guitar—and a nut width of 52 mm. These dimensions allow for an ergonomic playing style, particularly for fingerpicking and classical playing techniques. The high-gloss natural finish gives the guitar an elegant appearance while reliably protecting the surface.

A special feature of the Yamaha CX 40 II is the built-in passive pickup with volume and tone controls. This allows you to connect the guitar directly to an amplifier, a mixing console, or an audio interface—ideal for school performances, small concerts, or home recordings. The pickup authentically captures the guitar’s natural sound and provides flexible tone shaping.

Why the Yamaha CX 40 II 4/4 classical guitar is a smart choice

The Yamaha CX 40 II 4/4 concert guitar impresses with its ease of use, clean craftsmanship, and pleasant tone—features that are particularly important for beginners. The built-in pickup significantly expands the guitar’s versatility, making it the ideal choice for your first stage performance or for recording in your own home studio.

At the same time, its electronics provide extra flexibility that sets it apart from purely acoustic guitars in this price range.
