Boss Katana-50 EX Gen 3

The Katana Gen 3 is the latest version of the successful BOSS amplifier series and takes your guitar ambitions to the next level. Thanks to new Tube Logic enhancements, the platform benefits from an even better sound, feel and response. Also included is an expressive pushed amp type that will delight all fans who love an amp at the limit. The BOSS Tone Studio app has also been revised. From now on, remote control of amp and effect settings is more intuitive than ever before. Katana Gen 3 is packed with inspiring sound tools and a variety of connectivity options - the perfect choice for studio recording, live performance and everyday practicing. The Katana-50 EX Gen 3 model adds several improvements for live use to the basic features of the Katana-50 Gen 3. These include a redesigned speaker, line-out and stereo expand functions and support for the GA-FC/GA-FC EX foot controller.

Katana Gen 3: Unlimited inspiration

With its groundbreaking Tube Logic amplifier design and customizable Class AB power amp performance, the BOSS Katana series has earned a permanent place in the rigs of guitarists around the world since its launch in 2016. The Katana amplifiers are based on decades of BOSS development experience and combine a professional sound in the style of a tube amplifier with modern advantages such as integrated effects, presets that can be called up at the touch of a button, in-depth sound processing and reduced weight. With the Katana Gen 3, the amplifiers become even more versatile and enable an unprecedented playing experience.

Optimized Tube Logic sounds

Tube Logic reproduces a tube circuit with all its complex interactions down to the smallest detail. With the further development of the five amplifier characters from the previous Katana models, including the iconic Brown high-gain amplifier, we are continuing this approach consistently. The new Pushed character in particular illustrates the optimized dynamic processes of the Katana-100 Gen 3. Experience the full dynamic gain structure of a clean combo amp driven into harmonic saturation. In addition, all six amplifier characters have a variation, resulting in a total of twelve different sounds. Compared to the standard 50-watt model, the Katana-50 EX Gen 3 has an optimized speaker for more range and resonance when used on stage.

Sweet spot sound at any volume

Every tube amp fan knows that the more you turn up the volume control, the fuller, richer and more dynamic the sound becomes. Unfortunately, the volume required for this is not compatible with all playing situations. This is where external power limiters often come into play, but they can lead to sound artifacts that affect the sound and response of the amplifier. The Katana Gen 3's integrated power control combines the best of both worlds: the playing feel of a fully turned up amp even at moderate volumes without compromising the sound. The control on the front panel allows you to seamlessly adjust the level to any playing situation - from live gigs to playing at home in your bedroom.

Renowned BOSS effects

The Katana Gen 3 offers five simultaneously usable effect categories, equipped with a variety of effects from the long BOSS history. With direct access controls and three variations each, the Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb sections provide optimized sounds and a total of 15 individual effects. The BOSS Tone Studio offers even more possibilities. Here, 60 effect types and numerous detailed parameters are available, allowing you to customize the amplifier's internal effects precisely to your preferences. Together with the optional Bluetooth® Audio MIDI Dual Adapter and the BTS Editor app, you can even control and customize your sounds wirelessly during a gig.

Unrivaled sound editing

The BOSS Tone Studio software for the Katana Gen 3 models has been visually redesigned and offers new graphical settings that allow you to customize your sound even faster and more intuitively. Here you will find numerous tools for amplifier and effect processing, you can change the effect order and shape the overall sound to your liking with the 3-way Contour control and several EQs. In addition to higher-level settings and behaviors, you can also create and manage your own setups for your gigs in the software. You also have access to the BOSS Tone Exchange platform, where you can download professional setups and share your sounds with the global Katana community.

Comprehensive live control

The Katana-50 EX Gen 3 offers a variety of powerful tools for modern performers. Four memory slots are available for storing and recalling complete amp and effect setups. You will also find separate connections on the rear panel for external control via footswitch and expression pedal. The GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers offer even more possibilities, allowing you to comprehensively control your Katana Gen 3 live: access four additional tone settings (eight in total), switch effects on/off, use expression pedals and more. In addition, the GA-FX EX has an expansion mode for connecting a second GA-FX model to double the number of footswitches or control two Katana amps simultaneously.

Expand your sound

The Katana-50 EX Gen 3 accompanies you on all creative paths. The Stereo Expand* function allows you to quickly and easily connect two amplifiers together. While the main amp controls the master parameters, the stereo effects such as chorus, delay and reverb are played through both amps to create a particularly wide and immersive sound. Alternatively, you can use the Power Amp In input to bypass the Katana's preamp and use the reactive Class AB power amp as an amplifier for a modeling amp or an external preamp.

Flexible connection

With the Katana-50 EX Gen 3's connection options, you're ready for any playing situation. Connect headphones to practice silently in stereo. Send a signal to a PA via the line output. Or use the USB-C port to record your playing in your favorite music software on a computer or mobile device. All audio outputs allow you to play out the signals with IR speaker sound, including three air-feel types and two customizable settings in BOSS Tone Studio.
