Combo tube amplifiers

Combo tube amplifiers are amplifiers with integrated loudspeakers. Depending on their performance, they are well suited for use at home and their size makes them easy to transport.

The amplification of the signal is done by tubes and their special transmission characteristics produce the typical sound. A distinction is made between open and closed combos, referring to the presence of a rear panel on the amplifier. Closed combos have a more powerful, directed characteristic, while open combos sound more spatial and - due to the greater use of space - also warmer. Tube amplifiers have a characteristic warm sound, which can be regulated very sensitively in the degree of distortion. Especially in the field of slightly distorted sounds they are clearly superior to a transistor amplifier, as the transition between clean and overdrive sounds more organic. However, strong, powerful distortion is also possible without any problems. If you want to achieve high volumes in the clean area, you should pay attention to sufficient power, because the tubes start distorting after a certain load (which is also intended). With a valve amplifier, it is considered to have more than twice the power of a transistor amplifier with the same watt value.

Which amplifier you buy is ultimately left to your own taste and application. Let us advise you to find the perfect solution for your musical needs.
