Analog circuitry meets modern DAW integration

The Electro Harmonix HARDWARE PLUGIN works like a classic DAW plugin, but with one crucial difference: your recorded tracks are sent through the real analog Big Muff circuit. This creates a sound that clearly stands out from digital emulations.

It integrates seamlessly with popular DAWs such as Pro Tools®, Ableton Live®, Cubase®, GarageBand®, Logic Pro X®, Reaper® and many more. Simply connect via USB, select a track and open the plug-in window - and your signal is working with real analog hardware.

Legendary 1973 Violet Ram's Head circuit - now in stereo

The circuit is based on the coveted 1973 Violet Ram's Head Big Muff, one of the most iconic distortion pedals of all time. Known for its articulate distortion and exceptional sustain, this version has been modernized and now offers true stereo.

Additional functions such as Tone Wicker and Tone Bypass expand the sound spectrum. The Tone Wicker switch opens up three high-frequency filters for more bite and presence, while Tone Bypass bypasses the tone control completely - for maximum, broadband big muff drive.

Presets and USB audio interface

Up to ten presets can be called up via footswitch and stored directly in the pedal. In addition, any number of presets can be saved on the computer. The Electro Harmonix HARDWARE PLUGIN can also be used as a 2-in/2-out USB audio interface - either with or without the Big Muff effect activated.

This makes it suitable not only for guitarists, but also for keys, drums, vocals or bass - wherever real analog character is required.

Standalone pedal and studio tool in one

The device can be used both as a standalone effects pedal and as a hardware plug-in in the DAW. Buffered bypass ensures a clean signal flow in live operation. Power is supplied via the included 9.6VDC power supply or via the USB 2.0 Type-B port.
