Flageolet

The flageolet is closely related to the recorder and is a traditional woodwind instrument, despite modern types are often made of metal. Its naming can be traced back to the general labelling of flutes used in the 13th century. Throughout the course of history the name flageolet became naturalised only for this particular instrument. The version made from metal that is named “tin whistle” has its origins in England and is a popular instrument in traditional Irish folk music, too. The style of playing is similar to that of the recorder and flageolets are available in different keys.
