Soprano Recorder

The soprano recorder is likely the most famous representative of the recorder family and especially popular as a starter instrument for kids. It is pitched in C and is noted one octave below sounding.

Soprano flutes are differed in German and Baroque fingering. A recorder with Baroque fingering has double holes at the lower end of the instrument and certain tones, like e.g. F have to be played with forked fingering. Instruments with German fingering are easier to be handled and therefore are often used by beginners and children. There are Instruments with German fingering and double holes as well. They are distinguished from the baroque fingering by the diameter of the holes following the double holes upside. In the professional field the baroque fingering is standard.
