Ibanez AEG1221-BOT Black Out 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Ibanez AEG1221-BOT Black Out 12-String Acoustic Guitar

The Ibanez AEG1221-BOT is a modern 12-string acoustic guitar that combines versatility, elegant design, and practical features in a compact format. As part of the proven AEG series, it delivers a balanced, powerful sound—both acoustically and when amplified—while offering high playability and intuitive electronics for hassle-free stage use. The Black Out Finish also gives the guitar a sophisticated, contemporary look.

The combination of high-quality tonewoods, a slim body, and the streamlined AEQ-TTS preamp makes this model a reliable workhorse for singer-songwriters, studio artists, and live musicians alike.

Clear tone with brilliant depth

The spruce top of the AEG1221-BOT ensures clear, assertive sound projection, which really comes into its own on 12-string models. Sapele sides and back perfectly complement the spruce with warm mids and brilliant highs—for a balanced tone that stands out even in a band setting.

Thanks to the compact AEG body shape, the guitar remains pleasantly manageable and comfortable despite its full tonal range—perfect for long sessions and dynamic playing.

Outstanding playing comfort & stable feel

The Comfort Grip neck made of Nyatoh, combined with a Makassar ebony fingerboard, offers a smooth playing feel with a firm response. The string action is precise, and the playing feel—thanks to the neck width of 45 mm at the nut and 57 mm at the 14th fret—is comfortable even for fingerstyle players. The shorter scale length of 634 mm (25") further facilitates fingering on the wider 12-string neck.

The Macassar ebony bridge ensures direct vibration transfer, while the Ibanez Advantage™ bridge pins provide a secure hold and make string changes easier—a well-thought-out detail for everyday use.

Shine even brighter with clear control

For amplification, the guitar is equipped with the Ibanez T-Bar II undersaddle pickup, which impresses with minimized background noise and natural tone. The AEQ-TTS preamp requires only two controls (Volume & Shape) – for intuitive tone shaping in any situation. The built-in LCD tuner is bright and easy to read—an indispensable tool on stage.

Conclusion: An expressive 12-string for the stage and everyday use

The Ibanez AEG1221-BOT is a well-designed 12-string acoustic guitar that combines classic tone with modern construction and stage readiness. With clear tone projection, comfortable playability, and unobtrusive electronics, it’s the perfect choice for guitarists looking for a reliable, powerful-sounding, and visually appealing instrument—whether in the studio or on stage.
