Ibanez AR420-BMG Black Mirage Gradation Electric Guitar

Ibanez AR420-BMG Black Mirage Gradation Electric Guitar

The Ibanez AR420-BMG is a true standout among classic electric guitars. As part of the time-honored AR series, it builds on one of Ibanez’s earliest original designs, combining proven construction with contemporary tonal versatility and an elegant look. With its eye-catching Black Mirage Gradation finish, high-quality components, and flexible switching options, it is a versatile instrument for both the stage and the studio.

Classic design meets modern features

The set neck is made of three-piece maple and features a gently contoured transition (“Smooth Heel”) for optimal playing comfort. The bound jatoba fingerboard with acrylic & abalone block inlays not only offers a stylish appearance but also delivers rich mids and clear highs. The compact scale length of 24.75 inches ensures pleasantly short string tension and makes bends and vibratos easier.

The okoumé body features a flamed maple top, which gives the instrument an elegant look as well as a bright and assertive tone. The glossy polyurethane finish beautifully highlights the grain while protecting the guitar from external influences.

Vintage tone with modern flexibility

The signature Ibanez tone is provided by two Super 58 humbuckers, which deliver a warm, balanced sound with moderate output—ideal for jazz, blues, classic rock, and modern genres alike. The combination with the two Tri-Sound switches offers three different operating modes per pickup (series, parallel, coil-tap), which significantly expands the tonal range and enables both rich humbucker sounds and clear, singing single-coil tones.

The Gibraltar Performer Bridge offers plenty of sustain and perfect intonation, while the Quik Change Classic tailpiece allows for quick and easy string changes—ideal for live performances.
