The JHS Pedals 424 Gain Stage Overdrive / Distortion effect pedal brings the authentic sound of old multi-track recorders directly to your pedalboard. It faithfully reproduces the distinctive, elastic lo-fi sound of the legendary vintage 424 MKI multi-track recorder - including its gain stages, which impress with their special dynamics and sound coloration. Historically inspired and implemented with technical precision

When developing the 424 Gain Stage Pedal, JHS Pedals deliberately aimed to reproduce the gain stages of the 424 MKI as faithfully as possible. Exactly the same operational amplifiers are used - the UPC4570 and NJM4565 - as in the original. The three gain controls (Trim, Channel, Master Volume) are also based on the original circuitry and allow the sound to be shaped according to personal preferences. Supported by an active 2-band EQ with bass and treble controls, the sound can be further refined - from slightly saturated to brute distortion.

From studio to stage - maximum connection diversity

In addition to the classic 6.35 mm mono jack input and output, the 424 Gain Stage also offers a balanced XLR output, which is ideal for studio applications or direct feeding into a PA system. A ground lift switch helps to avoid any ground loops - especially when using the DI-out. The integrated soft-touch footswitch ensures pleasant switching operations without mechanical clicking, while the status LED always provides clear information about the operating status.

Compact format with robust construction

With its robust metal housing, the JHS Pedals 424 Gain Stage is ideally equipped for everyday touring. Despite its sturdy construction, the pedal remains compact and lightweight. With a size of 122 x 66 x 41 mm and a weight of only 290 g, it fits effortlessly on any pedalboard. Power is supplied via a 9 VDC power supply unit (not included). Battery operation is not provided. The current consumption is 50 mA.
