Palmer Power Attenuator Pad PDI 06 8 Ohm Product Details
The PDI06 is a power attenuator for live use. The device is connected between the amplifier output and the loudspeaker box. It makes it possible to take advantage of the popular output stage distortion of tube amplifiers, but at the same time the associated high volume can be reduced. The volume can be reduced in 6 steps from 100% to 18% for stage and rehearsal room conditions.
This operating mode is useful if you want to play directly into the mixing console via an existing line output of the amplifier which has a loudspeaker emulation and volume in the recording room is undesirable. The device has one input for the loudspeaker signal from the amplifier and two outputs for connecting loudspeaker boxes.
The total impedance of the loudspeakers must correspond to the value given on the PDI06. Example: a PDI06 specified for 8 Ohm can accept one 8 Ohm speaker or two 16 Ohm speakers at its outputs. The output of the (tube) amplifier is also set to 8 Ohm.
