Manufacturer and Concept of the Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition

With the KeyLab mk3 Ultra, Arturia is introducing a special version of its well-known controller series. The Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition is designed for users who want to combine the quality of the mk3 series with a unique special-edition look. The striking “Ultra” orange finish and matching surface create a strong visual impact, making the controller an eye-catcher in the studio or on stage.

At its core is a well-thought-out control concept for modern music production. The Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition is designed not only to perform individual functions but also to serve as a central control surface for creative processes. Whether playing melodies, controlling software instruments, working in a DAW, or connecting to hardware instruments: The controller is designed to combine control, clarity, and playability in a single device.

Technical Details and Professional Control

Are you looking for a MIDI controller that’s responsive to play while also providing direct access to many important functions? The Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition features a velocity-sensitive, aftertouch-capable, semi-weighted keyboard with exceptional responsiveness and playability. This allows you to express musical ideas with great expressiveness, while the user interface provides additional control over production and performance.

Nine touch-sensitive 360-degree knobs and faders are available for control. These are complemented by 12 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads with 4 banks. Transport controls and DAW commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo are also integrated. The Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition thus supports a direct workflow in which key actions remain quickly accessible without unnecessarily interrupting the creative process.

Display, Connections, and Creative Features

The 3.5-inch, full-color display with 320x480 pixels, combined with 8 context-sensitive buttons, offers intuitive control and clear visual feedback. Especially with more complex setups, this overview helps users better organize functions and precisely control parameters. For flexible connectivity, the Arturia KeyLab 49 MKIII Ultra Edition features inputs for sustain, expression, and auxiliary pedals, MIDI DIN In/Out, and USB-C power delivery for modern setups.

Creative playing aids are also part of the concept. Scale mode automatically adapts played notes to a selected scale, thereby supporting musically coherent results. The arpeggiator, with its advanced randomization features, opens up possibilities for unique patterns, while Chord Play enables fixed chords or chord progressions with intelligent voice leading. These features help you develop ideas faster and shape musical structures directly on the controller.
