The OD505 vocal microphone with Active Dynamic technology is designed for the stage and also at home in the studio. It is uncompromisingly robust and combines the advantages of a dynamic microphone with the sonic finesse of a condenser microphone. Austrian Audio has created the perfect performance partner for singers, podcasters and even radio announcers with the OD505. With its amazingly neutral tuning, it's a true joy to shape the sound to perfectly bring out the strengths of each voice with just a few tweaks. Austrian Audio's proprietary Open Acoustic technology effectively eliminates unwanted reflections through the cabinet, creating an exceptionally natural, resonance-free sound. By reducing the contact points of the capsule and the bearing, it is possible to greatly reduce acoustic interference factors.

The capsule with Active Dynamic technology requires 48 volts phantom power and, at 4.4 mV/Pa, has almost the same sensitivity as a condenser microphone. This means that even soft sounds are captured in remarkable detail. The second, lower capsule is passively switched and captures only mechanically introduced signals. By phase-locking this signal to the active capsule and using the switchable 2nd order high-pass filter, the OD505 becomes virtually immune to any form of structure-borne sound, such as handling noise and shocks. Due to the active circuitry, the OD505 provides high output power and requires significantly less pre-amplification. Pre-amps can be used with lower gain settings and longer cable runs are unproblematic.Rounding out the thoughtful design is another Austrian Audio development, the Pop Noise Diffuser. This filter is specifically tuned to the microphone and reduces explosive noises like T and P to a minimum.
