Description

Boss DM-101 Delay-Pedal Product Details

Discover the ultimate analog delay

Classic sound and modern power - the DM-101 Delay Machine is the ultimate analog delay. Powered by eight bucket brigade memories (BBD) and controlled by a powerful processor, the DM-101 offers twelve delay modes, true stereo operation, and a wide range of timbres based on all-analog signal processing. With 127 user memory locations, tap tempo, carryover, MIDI and more, the DM-101 combines the functionality of a modern digital delay with the lively characterful sound of an analog bucket list delay.

Analog delay for the 21st century

In the 1970s, analog delays based on BBD microchips (bucket brigade memories) were developed as a compact and cost-effective alternative to the tape delays commonly used up to that time. With their warm, saturated and exceedingly musical sound, these established a distinctive delay style that is still appreciated by countless musicians and sound engineers today. The DM-101 adds modern processor control to this classic effect, offering musicians a host of new possibilities.

BOSS innovation - performance on a new level

The DM-101 takes analog delay to previously unattainable heights, enabling clean sounds and extra-long delay times alongside traditional sounds. To achieve this versatility, we've incorporated eight 2048-stage bucket memories instead of the usual 4096-stage bucket memory. By precisely controlling the behavior of these smaller bucket brigade memories via a processor, we achieve a much wider range of sounds while preserving the desired analog characteristics that musicians appreciate in their beloved bucket brigade memory floor pedals.

Sounds - from vintage to modern

The DM-101 moves effortlessly and seamlessly between gritty vintage echoes and modern analog delay sounds with extended treble range. Various internal circuit elements are available for changing the total of twelve modes. Depending on the selected mode, the number and wiring of the active bucket brigade memories as well as the settings of the low-pass filter and the clock rates are adjusted. The Variation knob controls several parameters simultaneously - individually arranged according to the respective mode. In addition, you can drive the delays into self-oscillation and saturation at any time via the Intensity knob.

Stereo delays with real analog warmth

Thanks to the DM-101's processor control, you can realize sophisticated stereo sounds that are not possible with other analog bucket-list delays. For example, Pan mode routes each bucket brigade memory as well as its feedback loop to alternate positions in the stereo field, while Dual mode changes the modulation phase for each output to create a large, spatial delay effect. Six of the twelve modes support stereo operation and allow for the full spectrum, from short, reverb-like sounds to sweeping, modulated delays to pattern delays for pronounced rhythmic effects.

Complete creative control

The DM-101 offers all the creative advantages of a modern delay pedal. Tap tempo and note divisions are available in most modes. In addition, the Carryover function provides clean decaying repeats when the effect is bypassed. Four built-in memory slots let you store your favorite setups for quick recall when you need them. You can also connect up to two footswitches or an expression pedal for advanced real-time control. MIDI I/O gives the DM-101 access to 127 user memory locations, MIDI sync, and more. Audio outputs are configured for mix operation by default, but can be quickly and easily adjusted for use in wet/dry rigs and operation in parallel wet-only setups.
