Like its sibling from the East (East Beast), West Pest was also developed by Cre8audio in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers. Its oscillator is the result of 10 years of dedication to the continuous advancement of analog oscillator research and development. Built entirely from modern components, it is highly stable in tuning and boasts a rich, unique sound. A custom wave folder allows you to further shape its sound, adding new dimensions to the already superb-sounding oscillator core. The built-in wave folder does what traditional wave-folding circuits have been doing for years, while setting new standards by allowing the user to fold waveforms that were previously unfoldable.

West Pest features a Dynamics Controller that infuses the sound with that authentic West Coast vibe. It combines the functionality of a VCA with a low-pass filter to mimic the behavior of sound waves in the real world by dynamically varying the harmonic content in response to the sound’s volume. The Dynamics Controller is a Pittsburgh Modular innovation that adds a new dimension of control over a low-pass gate circuit without the use of Vactrols and increases the release time.

The West Coast style is typically characterized by additive-synth-derived, rich, and complex sounds. Traditional user interface elements are often replaced by abstract and experimental ones. However, West Pest doesn’t require a deep dive into abstraction: It offers a wide range of sonic possibilities with a fast and simple workflow. Fresh and inspiring sounds can be created in no time. West Pest’s enormous sonic capabilities are hidden behind a modest exterior in the form of a bento box (without compartments). West Pest has a semi-modular design and features 8 different patchable modules (oscillator, wave contour, dynamics controller, LFO, multi-mod tool, sequencer, MIDI/CV converter, and mini-button keyboard) with no fewer than 18 Eurorack-compatible patch points for connecting to itself and other devices.
